Sr. Benoîte and Our Lady of Laus

Among the sanctuaries dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, few are as deeply marked by the seal of divine tenderness as Our Lady of Laus. For more than three centuries, this humble valley of the Alps has witnessed countless conversions, healings, and consolations.

It was there that the Most Holy Virgin appeared, for a period of fifty-four years, to Benoîte Rencurel, a poor shepherdess of Saint-Étienne d’Avançon, born on September 16, 1647.

The Blessed Virgin chose this hidden soul to make known her maternal compassion and to draw sinners back to the Heart of her Son.

From the first apparitions in 1664 until Benoîte’s holy death in 1718, Laus became a place of prayer, penance, and divine mercy.

It is a sanctuary where Our Lady, in her gentle and persevering love, continues to invite all souls to conversion and to peace.

Through the fidelity of one humble servant, Heaven opened a fountain of grace that has not ceased to flow.
